This is easily my favorite in the series. The longer it takes you to beat it more, and more story reveals itself. Also if you beat it quickly, it has great replay value because of that. I think this is the best entry place for new players, and to go back to the other ones after that have much more advanced mechanics. I also thought it looked bad in video, but on TV it looks great similar to Zelda Links Awakening remake

If you haven't played Shiren games before, and you have a Windows PC, go get The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate on Steam instead. It's just as good a game as this one and much cheaper. You also need to know first if you're going to like true Roguelikes. They are a punishing genre (lots of permadeaths) and not for everyone.
But if you know what you're getting into, you won't be disappointed. This is a huge Shiren game with the full cast of monsters from prior games, plus some new ones. Lots and lots of dungeons with all the gimmicks you're used to, plus some new ones. And of course, depth of gameplay that is absolutely unrivaled. (And don't worry, that slightly weird-looking character art will grow on you!)
I've sunk a ton of time into this and will probably sink some more time into it. I'm a casual when it comes to Mystery Dungeon games but it's my most played game this year by far.
As usual, Spike Chunsoft hits it out of the park with another fantastic Mystery Dungeon title. Highly recommended to everyone who's ever played the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series or who just enjoys dungeon crawlers in general.
