Lies Of P Dev Announces Changes and Fixes Based Impressions From Demo

The Lies of P demo has aroused the enthusiasm of players, but the developers do not intend to rest on their laurels. The game's director, in his combat bucket (?), has already announced changes based on player feedback.

Lies of P was a little surprise for many players. We found out about the game and its Summer Game Fest 2023 presentation much earlier, but it was only after a new trailer was shown and a demo was made available that the title aroused great interest.

However, in addition to admiration, players also had a lot of comments on the demo. The criticism of Lies of P was addressed by game director Jion Choin. This took the form of a video, in which the creator addressed the questions most frequently asked by Internet users on Steam and social media. We have posted the video below.

First went the issue of dodging, which is to be refined in the full version of Lies of P.

  1. Round8 studio has not yet decided on specific fixes. Nevertheless, Choin mentioned that the team is looking at both invincibility frames (also popularly known as i-frames) and "distance mechanics."
  2. Currently, players complain that it rarely works in practice. Perhaps the game uses this to encourage perfect parrying of attacks, but it doesn't help much when facing several enemies at once.

Besides the developer wants to refine other elements, including those related to combat. This applies to both mechanics (including camera and character controls) and audiovisual issues. The latter are intended to make the power of accurate hits more palpable, but also to make it easier for players to identify the attacks of enemies, so that it is easier to predict them (and parry them).

  1. The ambition of the developers is also to encourage players who have no experience with soulslike games to play Lies of P. This will be achieved, among other things, by refining the tutorial and in-game tips.
  2. Lies of P will also see optimization improvements. Admittedly, it already does not perform badly (yes, players and journalists often praise the demo's operation), but the developer still wants to refine this aspect, and in the process also polish the graphics.
  3. As for the possibility of leveling up characters only in the Hotel Krat: Choin stressed that this is a central location and this will not change in the final version of Lies of P. Thus, the hotel will serve the same function as the Nexus in Demon's Souls.
  4. Round8 Studio is also preparing, among other things, sound fixes - also to make it easier to detect invisible enemies.

Choin also did not fail to thank the players for their tremendous support of the project. Unfortunately, in the end, he did not remove his "helmet" (or bucket), apparently following the example of Yoko Taro.

Lies of P will debut on September 19 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
