This is the theme of today's presentations! Contradicting every sane suggestion NOT to do a live demo and stick with a PowerPoint presentation, I decided to do a live demo LOL. 🤣 I started working on this project last Friday, so it's pretty much a #workinprogress. I'm purposely breaking stuff so I can show you the process and how easily you can design your own experiences, iterate, gather feedback, and prototype gameplay hooks using UEFN's devices. 🎮 Exploring Unreal Engine 5: My First FPS Shooter Game 🚀 I'm excited to share a project I've been working on while learning Unreal Engine 5—a first-person shooter game! This game has been a great learning experience, even though the environment isn't fully polished due to hardware limitations. The project ended up being around 60GB, which my PC struggled to handle, but the core gameplay is fully functional. One of the coolest features is the destructible environment, where obstacles crumble when hit by the player's gun. This project has taught me a lot about game mechanics, optimization, and the powerful capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. Excited to share that I'm developing a video game project aimed at motivating and teaching students about research. The game features active mechanics that will be refined for the final version. Light plays a symbolic role in the game; players start by picking up a touch light, but in the final version, activating the torchlight and increasing illumination will require strategic player interactions. To progress, players must collect key items (a 'recipe' for research reference) before unlocking doors. The questions and widgets are crucial in fine-tuning gameplay mechanics. Currently testing the gameplay to ensure everything aligns with my vision. Excited to share my journey with M-Labs so far. I've been building a game for the "Rookie Game Jam" as a part of their Summer Program 2024. Here's a video showcasing the latest build of my 2D Unity game. This version features: 1. Enhanced ball mechanics with a shortened and improved trajectory line. 2. Dynamic block hit points for a more challenging gameplay. 3. A moving block to test precision. 4. A goal area with real-time "GOAL" feedback upon successful shots. 5. A fan mechanic introducing wind dynamics, along with wind particles for visual effects. 6. Limited tries per round to increase the challenge and strategic play. This is just a raw build that will serve as a base for our smooth game mechanics. The objective: Shoot the ball at an angle that compensates for wind deflection and reach the goal with minimal tries. If the ball misses the goal, it resets to the starting position, and the try count increases.
