Tantrums are a powerful form of communication. They help release emotions and express needs.  Tantrums are a typical part of toddler emotional development; they tend to peak at 24-36 months. They are NOT PERSONAL!!! Your toddlers need your help to regulate and process their emotions. This is their way to develop self-control.  Remember to hold space for your toddlers to move through a tantrum. Letting them share what happened and how they feel will support them without shutting their feelings down. Once they feel seen and heard, the tantrum will wane.  Sometimes, all we can do is be nearby and keep them safe.  #parentingtoddlers #parentingtips #parentchildrelationship

How to handle your child's acting out moments 1. Take a moment to get yourself together. Take a nice deep breath in through your nose, hold it and slowly let it out of your mouth. Do this a few times until you feel like you have control of your emotions. 2. Approach the behavior with curiosity. Children often act out because they can't express their emotions verbally. 𝟑 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐈’𝐕𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐌𝐘𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I want to preface this post by saying I’m in no way attempting to give parenting advice. This is more just a reflection I’m doing for myself and what I’ve learned so far.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝟏. 𝐈 𝗪𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄 𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In the past (almost) 6 years since becoming a parent, I’ve really shifted my priorities. Especially since I’ve become a parent of three kids, my time demands (in a very good way) have increased even more.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I realized how much time I spent doing things like scrolling social media, watching TV, lifting weights (2-hour lifting sessions are no more), prepping perfect meals and just sitting around doing nothing.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Having kids has forced me to become more productive and say “No” to a lot more things I would have previously said “Yes” to.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝟐. 𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝗪 𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What I’m finding out about life is the more I know, the more I realize I DON’T know.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Being a parent is an entirely new skill I’m learning.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And I get feedback every day (from my kids) on how I’m doing :)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝟑. 𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐋⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The past couple of years, I’ve learned a lot about patience, time management, leading by example and a host of other things.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Young children have no filter, so I’ll quickly realize if I’m not prioritizing them.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Kids will also mimic just about everything you do, so if you hear something coming out of their mouths, you know where they probably got it :)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I would love to hear from you, as well.
