Fallout London review: 9/10 “Fallout London is not just a miracle of the modding scene, nor is it a fleeting curiosity; it's the real deal - a sprawling, painstakingly conceived and authored RPG that almost resembles the idealized modern Fallout game.” #FalloutLondon #teamfolon #fallout4 #fallout https://lnkd.in/ekFu99a8

In the latest episode of "It Actually Happened During My Lifetime," the game Banana, where the entire gameplay loop involves... clicking a banana... to change the number printed on top, was the most played game on Steam last night. Today, it holds the number two spot, boasting more players than Destiny 2, Rust, War Thunder, Warframe, Monster Hunter: World, Sid Meier's Civilization VI, Stardew Valley, Team Fortress 2, and HELLDIVERS 2 combined. If you want to understand where the break has occurred between pouring $400M into the games grist mill and having "financially profitable AAA success" predictably come out the other side, start here with this solo-developed game that involves... clicking on a banana. In the meantime, I'm going to go... eat a banana. P.S. Watch out for the Attack of the Clones. There are a million of them coming or already here.

#throwbackthursday The original God of War was released 19 years ago! 👀 After seeing its initial release on March 22nd, 2005, God of War has seen itself land in many gaming journalists and magazines as one of the best video games of all time, and rightfully so. This legendary game accomplished quite a lot by winning several "Game of the Year" awards and becoming the fourteenth best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. All of which has led to us seeing 9 more additions to the series so far for this action-adventure, hack and slash video game. Cool facts about the game: • David Jaffe, the game director and creator of the first game, was heavily inspired by Capcom’s game 'Onimusha' and to no surprise the 1981 feature film, 'Clash of the Titans'. • There has been talks of a God of War live-action film/series in the works since 2005. With scripts being written, cancelled, and re-written again. At one point, David Jaffe stated that a script was sent out to James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, to which he turned down - Glad he stuck as 007 because it’s quite difficult to imagine seeing him as Kratos, if that was the role intended 😄. • Kratos' tattoo was going to be blue. • By completing either of these tasks: - Completing the game on God Mode. - Destroying all the statues in the throne room. You can call two separate US phone numbers to receive a pre-recorded message of Kratos speaking about his final fight with Ares, and the other being David Jaffe congratulating you. #thursdaythoughts #gamingnews #news #nostalgia #throwback #gamesindustry

For the fungus-centric cottage-core style game we want to make, I want to innovate on the classic "grampa died and left you the deed" intro on cozy games. The premise feels stale, and I believe a better backstory is going to get players interested in the "why" of what they're doing. I'll refer to this project in the future as "Witch's Potion", the working title. #narrativedesign #gamedesign

My favorite game this year so far is on sale at Amazon and Best Buy for $39.99, so I thought I'd take this chance to talk about it a little bit and share my review with my LinkedIn friends new and old! One of the most common gameplay topics that came up in my conversations at #GDC2024 was world building, especially from a representation perspective. The Yakuza series is thought of by many to have a surprisingly authentic look and feel to Japan, and in their latest game, they did it again with Hawaii. As far as I know, there's no other open world game that explored Waikiki, and it was definitely a key highlight of many features that impressed me about this game, so I wanted to share my review of it. So before this "8-Minute Read" -- some quick hits on it if you're really interested. - Even excluding sidequests, this is the longest game in the series at over 60 hours to roll credits in. - If you haven't played a Yakuza game, this is not the one I'd start with. (Start with Yakuza: Like a Dragon or Yakuza 0). - This game is the true passing of the torch from Kazuma Kiryu to Ichiban Kasuga. Both of them serve as the main character. - The cozy, "Animal Crossing-like" game within the game is totally awesome. Still need more? That's what my review is for. I'd appreciate the click (we don't have any ad revenue, so don't worry about bad pop-ups.)

Jouni and Teemu wrote some games as a base so the Solita arkade machine would have something to try out. The games vary from classics to ”crazy and strange” and that is on purpose. Read about the Solita arkade from our blog: https://brnw.ch/21wJwHy #SolitaLife #ImpactThatLasts
