Multiplayer games - E-mail PC

In play-by-mail (PBEM), players play over the Internet, but do so in an alternating and asynchronous fashion. When one user makes a move (i.e., completes a turn), information about their moves is sent to a competitor via e-mail, after which the competitor - at any time - begins their own turn. This form of multiplayer does not require players to sit in front of a computer (or console) at the same time, and is primarily found in turn-based strategy games (usually niche war games).

Similarly to the said predecessor, the game focuses on realism, and pays much attention to small details. Unlike most strategy games, units are not a constant value – the seamen, airmen, or infantrymen all gather experience, and experience fatigue, while each commander has their strong points, as well as weaknesses. War in the Pacific contains 15 diversified campaigns, and remains easy-to-use despite being an unforgiving, complex game.

War Plan Orange: Dreadnoughts in the Pacific 1922-1930

Strategy 23 November 2005

A turn-based strategy created by 2BY3 Games - a developer that specializes in the genre. Contrary to the majority of the studio's previous games, War Plan Orange: Dreadnoughts in the Pacific 1922-1930 does not recreate any historical events. Instead, the game offers a completely fictional scenario that presents an alternative course of the war between the United States and Japan (involves other allied countries as well), which takes place in the Pacific. Naval forces play the key part here, with a special emphasis placed on powerful battleships and cruisers. The game features two main campaigns - one is set in the years 1922-26, and the second extends that period up until 1930; also, 8 additional scenarios, which can be played either solo or in the multiplayer. Despite the fact that the game presents a fictional conflict, the developer recreated authentic units from the period, including certain ships that in reality, never left the early stage of construction.
