Overwatch 2 Resets PCs, Enraging Players

Virtually every day more and more problems with Overwatch 2 come to light. The latest ones cause PCs to freeze and can result in bans.

Last week's release of Overwatch 2, the sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's popular online shooter, was anything but a success. The game is plagued by more and more problems, and the latest ones are proving particularly annoying for users.

  1. Many players report that the game crashes or restarts their PCs during the gameplay
  2. This alone would be annoying, but some users on occasion receive temporary bans for this as well. This is most likely due to the fact that the game interprets such problems as intentional abandonment. Some people make no secret of their dissatisfaction because of this.
  3. Blizzard admits that it is aware of these problems and is currently investigating how to solve them.
  4. Overwatch 2 has also been plagued since its release by stability problems, which cause the game to freeze.
  5. The official forum is being flooded with reports of various other bugs. For example, Xbox console users get kicked out of the game after each Achievement is earned, and on PCs you mouse can freeze randomly.

Overwatch 2 debuted on October 4, this year, on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The game uses free-to-play model with microtransactions.

The game's launch was heavily problematic. Overwatch 2 servers experienced DDoS attacks that caused matchmaking to malfunction and many players had trouble joining the game. Many users also complained that they lost skins and cosmetic items from the first Overwatch.

Bugs in the game also forced the temporary removal of several heroes from the list of playable characters. Many players also complain that not all elements from the first part were included in the sequel, which is all the more problematic since the servers of the first part were shut down. There is also considerable excitement about the slow pace of unlocking items. According to some estimates it can take up to five years to unlock all the cosmetic items for one character.
