Bethesda continues to fix and improve the medicorely rated Starfield by releasing updates. Today, the most extensive patch to date, version 1.9.51, has been released, bringing over 100 fixes to the game on PC and Xbox Series X and S (previously, the mentioned patch was only available on Steam in beta version).

Starfield - update 1.9.51 details

In this patch, Bethesda focused on fixing bugs in missions and random encounters. Many improvements also relate to graphics and overall problems. There were also numerous minor adjustments related to animations, weapons, strength, outposts, and abilities.

As we can read in Bethesda's announcement, developers will continue to monitor reports received from the community so that they can work on the next patches, which are scheduled to be released every six weeks.

Below are some selected fixes and improvements brought by the 1.9.51 update. A long list of all improvements is available directly on the Starfield developers' website.

General

  1. The PC error has been fixed, which was preventing Windows players from saving their game progress if their username contained specific characters.
  2. The crowd's behavior was improved when the desired objective was reserved.
  3. Restoring game sessions after turning it off in energy-saving mode has been repaired on Xbox consoles.

Animations

  1. The bug has been fixed that caused the character to have closed eyes constantly after switching to TPP view.
  2. The problem of animation stuttering while playing in third-person view has been fixed.

Crew and companions

  1. The positioning of crew members and companions near the cockpit was adjusted after a quick travel on the ship.
  2. Fixed a bug that could lead to the control being locked during a conversation with a companion without entering dialogue mode while attempting to leave the ship.

Starfield is still receiving bad reviews

Starfield was released in September 2023, and although it received high scores from critics, players received the game much more negatively. At the moment, Steam users have posted over 142,000 reviews for the game, with only 60% being positive.

The latest reviews (given within 30 days) are overwhelmingly negative. The game received positive opinions from only 32% of the players, despite receiving nearly five thousand reviews within a month.
