The whole gaming world, or at least a large part of it, is eagerly anticipating the release of GTA VI. Although the first official trailer of this game informed us about its debut in 2025, anonymous sources from the Rockstar Games studio suggest a possible postponement of the game's release to 2026.

Kotaku contacted several people involved in developing GTA VI, who provided us with very interesting information.

  1. Rockstar's current plan is reportedly to release the highly anticipated GTA VI in spring 2025. Such a release date would align with recent fan theories.
  2. According to anonymous sources from Kotaku, the beginning of next year is becoming increasingly unlikely. All because of the slowing pace of the creation of "six," which worries the devs.
  3. As a consequence, the game's release may be internally postponed to autumn 2025. If, despite everything, production cannot be completed by this date, the backup plan is to announce the release of GTA VI in 2026.

It's important to mention that Rockstar recently abandoned remote work and instructed employees working on the sixth installment of GTA to come back to the offices starting from April. As indicated by people inside the company, the management of Rockstar is afraid of postponing the premiere of GTA VI to 2026, hence the decision to help maintain the appropriate pace of work.

Forcing developers to return to their office desks wasn't well received, to say the least. Some are concerned that as a result, the project may lose some of its more talented employees at the final stage.
