About

Fallout Cascadia Information:

Cascadia is an upcoming new world-space mod for Fallout 4 set in a retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic version of Seattle and the surrounding areas. Players will start a new adventure entirely separate from the main game, with a new player character. Our current map size is slightly larger than the Commonwealth, with a smaller overall percentage covered by water.  The main quest is expected to have a similar playthrough time as the main quest of FO:NV.

We currently have approximately 100 members working on this project to the bring the Pacific Northwest to the world of Fallout. Work on this mod began in November 2015, intensified with the release of the Creation Kit, and has only continued to grow larger since then. Inside the mod, players will find new quests that challenge them mentally and morally, locations that tell a story, and factions that are vying for control.

Please consider following us on any and all our outlets, as we have much more to share as the project matures, and the release date begins to comes closer.

Fallout Cascadia FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • When will this release?

Every time someone asks, we push the date back by one week. Seriously though, that is something really hard to estimate. The project is made entirely of volunteers who are free to come and go. They work on it at their leisure when they have time. The expected release is several years away. Sorry, we can’t be more specific at this time.

  • Will this mod come to consoles?

Unfortunately not.  Even in the unfinished state, it exceeds the maximum file size allowed for either console- and grows larger every day as we continue to work.  Additionally, F4SE will be required to play Cascadia.

We do hope to bring some of our new armor and weapons to xbox for use as standalone items in the Commonwealth once Cascadia is complete, but due to Sony’s ban on new assets this would not be possible for PS4.

We are truly sorry for this.  Our entire team hoped to share Cascadia with as many people as possible, but the limitations Microsoft and Sony have put on console mods just made it impossible.

  • Any special requirements to run?

As of the current stage of development, Cascadia requires Far Harbor, Nuka World, and the Vault Tec DLCs, as well as F4SE.  We may add additional DLC to the list as our needs grow and change during development, but we will not be able to release a “no-dlc” version of any kind.. Additionally, you should be on a PC that is able to run FO4 without any special measures needed (IE low res mods or tweaks), ideally at medium settings.

  • Do I have to start a new save?

Yes. Our adventure is completely separate from the main game. It begins before the intro movie and character creation even start. You will not be able to travel between the Pacific Northwest and the Commonwealth. This is a design choice (but if you really want to, a simple mod will likely make it possible).

  • What can you tell me about the plot?

You’re a young farm boy, dissatisfied with rural life and frustrated by a family who doesn’t understand that you long for more than a simple life in the country. One day, your uncle’s purchase of a second hand robot leads you towards a mysterious drifter deep in the desert…. and sets off a series of events that will change your life, and the galaxy as a whole, forever.

    Wait, no, that’s Star Wars.
Sorry, you’ll just have to wait!

  • What is the setting?

This mod takes place several decades after the events of Fallout 3/NV/4. The city of Seattle is the main hub of the game. Many locations of the game focus around the city proper, including certain fair grounds, public markets, and other famous locations. The game will also include other locations to the west and south including Mercer Island, Redmond, Bellevue, forested areas and airports. The project make an effort to make the world a believable and alive one.

  • Will this mod cost money?

Nope. Free. We like the idea of keeping mods free and in the hands of mod creators. We will never charge for Fallout Cascadia.

  • Do you know what y'all are doing?

Yes. No. Mostly. This is indeed a larger project than any individual (in our group) has made before. However, each of us is taking on roles in the project that best suits our skills. Many have published quite impressive mods in the past. This project is just an extension of our combined skill that have come together. The group is organized quite well, and we like the current pace and direction our work is taking.

  • How can I help?

If you’re familiar with the creation kit, an asset creator, a scripter, or a graphic designer or concept artist, give us a shout- we’re always willing to consider new team members in those areas.
