Message from the Head of Office

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO). Here you can find information about the work of the European Union in the world and the EETO in Taiwan.

The European Union and Taiwan are like-minded partners in many ways. We enjoy a rules-based society, freedom, democracy and human rights. Under the one China policy, the EU and its Member States pursue friendly relations and close cooperation with Taiwan in a wide range of areas, such as trade and investment, digital and industrial issues, employment, human rights, or combatting disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI).

Taiwan is also an economic partner of the European Union as we work closely together on trade and investment. I am proud that the EU remains the largest foreign direct investor in Taiwan, contributing more than 25 percent of its FDI. At the same time, Taiwan is the EU’s 12th largest trading partner worldwide.

I am very happy to start here in the friendly city of Taipei and look forward to meeting all the old friends and new interlocutors to further enhance our relations with Taiwan!
