Quests tips

The campaign in God of War Ragnarok consists of 17 the Path quests and 1 quest done in the endgame - God of War Ragnarok: Walkthrough, all quests - Walkthrough - God of War Ragnarok Guide

The campaign in God of War Ragnarok consists of 17 the Path quests and 1 quest done in the endgame. The main storyline quests have to be completed in a specific order. Each of these quests is very long and it can take you up to several hours to complete it.

You will always receive confirmation of the start or completion of a particular quest. The next main quest will not always start immediately. You may have to complete additional activities listed in the journal first, such as returning to Sindri's House.

Main quests are listed down in the journal. There you can review the list of mission objectives and learn about the rewards for completing a given task.

Many quests can be interrputed or postponed so that optional activities can be taken care of first. The exceptions are the missions that take place in unique locations and do not allow for free exploration. You must then complete the mission in question first.

We prepared the guide by playing on the default difficulty level - Give me Balance - God of War Ragnarok: Walkthrough, all quests - Walkthrough - God of War Ragnarok Guide

We prepared the guide by playing on the default difficulty level - Give me Balance. In our opinion, it offers a sufficient level of challenge, especially considering the fact that God of War Ragnarok is generally more difficult than its predecessor. In addition, you have to develop Kratos from scratch and it is not possible to transfer previously acquired skills, armour or upgrades to GoW Ragnarok.

The game features a lot of clashes with full-fledged bosses and mini-bosses. You have to learn how to react to the colors of the bosses' attacks (yellow, red, blue) and regularly upgrade the main characters' equipment. We have described all the major confrontations in great detail in a separate section: Bosses.

Other difficulties can be environmental puzzles, such as rearranging mechanisms, throwing Leviathan Axe at interactive objects, or using sonic and sigil arrows. Completing puzzles is required to advance further in the game. You will find the solutions to the puzzles in dedicated sections of this guide.

It is not recommended to rush through the quests, because boss fights and clashes with elite enemies may become increasingly difficult for you - God of War Ragnarok: Walkthrough, all quests - Walkthrough - God of War Ragnarok Guide

It is not recommended to rush through the quests, because boss fights and clashes with elite enemies may become increasingly difficult for you. Develop your protagonists by exploring the area and discovering secret items. You should especially:

  1. open Legendary Chests - these can contain, for example, unique weapon and armor upgrades, or rare crafting ingredients;
  2. accept Favors - Favors are side quests and you can get a lot of XP and receive unique rewards by completing them;
  3. solve Nornin Chests puzzles - in these chests there are treasures that allow you to permanently extend your health and rage bars;
  4. eliminate Odin's ravens - you can then visit Niflheim and open chests with valuable loot.

All additional activities and treasures are described in the dedicated chapter: Secrets and Collectibles.

The game won't let you in everywhere right away - God of War Ragnarok: Walkthrough, all quests - Walkthrough - God of War Ragnarok Guide

The game won't let you in everywhere right away. If you encounter some seemingly indestructible obstacle or if the world completion counter is far from 100%, do not worry. As you progress through the game, you will discover new regions and learn new ways to deal with said obstacles.

Always listen to the comments of your companions (e.g. Atreus or Mimir). They may tell you that at a certain stage of the game you do not yet have the required equipment to unlock a path or complete a puzzle. Allies can also remind you to return to previous lands and explore new areas.
