Walkthrough - Endings | Chapter 7 Metro 2033 Guide, walkthrough

Last update: 11 May 2016

The game has two endings:

If it's hostile, you kill it is a default one and you won't have to perform any specific actions to unlock it.

Enlightened is an alternative one and you'll have to make some preparations (explained below) in order to unlock it.

You should know that meeting the requirements for the Enlightened ending doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have to choose it at the end of the game, because you will be allowed to make a choice between both endings (more in the description of the last mission named Top).

Requirements for the Enlightened ending:

PROLOGUE:

Hunter level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet. Don't forget to take a postcard from Hunter (final moments of the prologue). You can also increase your chances of unlocking the alternative ending by ignoring a revolver found in a locker (you would have to rely on your comrades to deal with all the monsters without your help).

FIRST CHAPTER:

Exhibition level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet. Make sure to give gold to a man asking you to help him and his son.

SECOND CHAPTER:

Riga level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet. Make sure to give golden bullets to all the beggars asking for your help and to a boy in exchange for him guiding you to your next destination. Decline taking gold from Bourbon (leave the money on the table after the conversation).

Market level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet. Give one of the beggars a golden bullet.

Dead City 1 level - Find all hidden stashes. Listen to a recording using a device found in the last room (the one you can gain access to by choosing a corridor full of traps).

Dead City 2 level - Find all hidden stashes.

THIRD CHAPTER:

Ghosts level - Examine all objects from the environment (as long as it's safe - remember that you can die if you're not careful) and always remain close to Khan to listen to his orders and comments.

Cursed level - Examine a sanctuary found at the end of the mission by interacting with all objects from the environment (this has to be done before you decide to use a ladder).

Armory level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet.

FOURTH CHAPTER:

Front Line level - Listen to a speech you'll witness at the beginning of the mission (near the carriage you've used to get here). Find a body near two wounded soldiers and a generator (this is where you'll have to choose between proceeding towards the bridge and using the pipes for silent approach). Free the prisoners encountered near the end of the mission.

Depot level - Kill the first guard before he manages to raise an alarm, informing his colleagues about your arrival.

Defense level - Collect a tape from a wounded commander (this can be done after the first battle with the monsters). Check the train station occupied by the creatures, especially the upper balconies and the armory.

Child level - Refuse to take a reward for bringing Sasha back to his mother (final part of the mission). Talk to some of the characters you'll meet in a safe area.

Black Station level - Finish the entire level without killing anyone. Listen to several guard conversations, especially the ones in the beginning of the mission (outpost near the traps and the right corridor near the train platform). Choose to move towards the alien creature at the end of the mission (new vision), instead of going towards a gate.

FIFTH CHAPTER:

Polis level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet.

SIXTH CHAPTER:

Driving to Sparta level - Examine all objects from the environment (this also applies to closed doors) and talk to everyone you meet.

Dark Star - Wait until you're rewarded with a new vision (beginning of the mission) and start moving towards an alien creature surrounded by red light.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

In addition to all the things mentioned above you'll also have to remember about two things - you won't be allowed to loot dead bodies and you won't be allowed to take things belonging to someone else. The only exception is gold ammunition. This requirements doesn't apply to supply chests and you'll also have a chance to resupply by purchasing items from the local vendors.

You should know that not being allowed to take anything from the corpses doesn't mean you shouldn't bother finding them. On the contrary, this may prove to be helpful in your efforts, because in some cases you'll witness short visions.
