What is brewing?

Brewing, i.e. making potions, is a key activity in the game. The mechanics of discovering and creating new recipes are very fun and intuitive. After examining an ingredient, you will learn what property (essence) it has.

At the table, you choose the ingredients that will create something logical - for example: using Tea Leaves (Remove), Fishbone (10), Aloe (Vitality) , you will get a "sentence": Remove 10 Vitality - The Serpent Rogue: Brewing - Potions - The Serpent Rogue Guide

At the table, you choose the ingredients that will create something logical - for example: using Tea Leaves (Remove), Fishbone (10), Aloe (Vitality) , you will get a "sentence": Remove 10 Vitality. This potion will causes damage; by replacing Remove with Add, you will get a healing potion. Later in the game, the complexity of the processes and recipes will increase significantly. Additional tips:

  1. The game saves all your progress while you are experimenting with ingredients: both newly discovered recipes and previous attempts that were unsuccessful.
  2. You can combine up to 4 ingredients, but you do not need to fill 4 slots to create a potion - one potion can require two, the other three.
  3. The order in which the ingredients are placed does not matter.
  4. You may only use one item of each ingredient with similar properties (e.g. you won't make a stronger potion by adding 2x Fishbone [but also 1x Shell 1x Fishbone]).
The list of discovered ingredients is available in the journal - The Serpent Rogue: Brewing - Potions - The Serpent Rogue Guide

How to discover new recipes?

If you prefer to discover new recipes on your own, you can take advantage of the hints offered by Kiosk - The Serpent Rogue: Brewing - Potions - The Serpent Rogue Guide

If you prefer to discover new recipes on your own, you can take advantage of the hints offered by Kiosk. After researching a new ingredient, you can get new tasks that will tell you which essences you need to combine to get the required potion. However, if you do not know a given essence, you have to figure out for yourself how to get it or what ingredient will represent it.

The most important ingredients

The most important ingredients are Mandragore (Wasteland) - the Change essence, and "multipliers" - Shell, Fishbone, Claw. Berry and Tea Leaves are also important since they are responsible for Add and Remove essences. You will be combining the ingredients with these "prefixes". All Change potions do not require "multipliers" and are focused on transmutation: transforming into another animal, killing or reviving. Add and Remove are for buffs/debuffs.
