Ways to unlock and general premises | Crimes Detected Watch Dogs Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Crimes Detected is one of four main categories of optional missions that you can take on in your spare time (they are not available while on a main mission). You will be allowed to learn about example crimes right after you complete the first main mission (after you visit the motel) and all the other side missions of this type are similar in their course.

The successive Detected Crimes become available at random moments of the game and in random order. You will get to know about the option to complete a side mission from the prompts that appear on the screen. Apart from the prompt, after it is unlocked on the world map, there appears a new marker (a small blue circle that symbolizes the area that can be explored).

Three important points to remember:

1) If you ignore an individual Crime Detected, after some time it disappears from the world map. You do not need to bother about that, though, because you will not lose your chance to complete it. It may become available again, later into the game.

2) If, after you have already started a side mission, and you fail it (see the next page to learn more about this), you will only have to wait for that mission to become available again, later into the game.

3) One of the requirements to complete the game in 100% is to stop 20 Detected Crimes. Still, there are much more missions of this kind and, after you meet the game's requirements, you can still complete those missions.

There are various rewards that come with completing the individual missions. They have been listed below:

  • Notoriety (it is awarded each time that you complete a mission and its growth depends on whether you managed to save the victim or not)
  • Experience points (the number of these depends on whether you gunned down or knocked down the criminal - the latter provides a higher bonus)
  • The "Quick Fingers" Skill (helps you switch between the available weapons faster)
  • The "Chrome" revolver
  • The "Enforcer" achievement/trophy (you need to complete 20 side missions)
