Important information about Sekiro Shadows Die Twice endings Sekiro guide, walkthrough

Last update: 08 April 2019

On this page of our guide to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice we have provided important information about the available endings and finales of the game. In this section you can learn about the number of endings and how to view them all in a simple way.

How many endings are in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has four endings:

  1. Immortal Severance
  2. Purification
  3. Return
  4. Shura

All of the mentioned endings are described in the following pages of this chapter. To unlock each of them there is a reward - achievement. You need to watch all 4 endings if you want to get a platinum trophy.

Can I see all the endings in one playthrough?

Officially, this is impossible because there are no manual save games, and you can't protect yourself from taking the decision that has impact on the game's grand finale. However, you can solve this problem by backing up your saves at important points in the game's story.

  1. If you're playing on a PC, you can find a directory with saves on your hard drive and copy them to any other location.
  2. If you're playing on PlayStation 4, You can copy your current saves on USB after you turn off the game.
  3. If you play on Xbox One, it's more problematic. You need to make sure that saves have been sent to the cloud before making a decision. You should then turn off Internet access and unlock the offline mode. After that you get the associated achievement you can delete local saves and then, after reconnecting to the Internet download those that were previously hosted in the cloud.

If you take care of the save game backup, you will be able to return to the important story moment before making a decision (after watching a desired ending). This will allow you to see all 4 endings in a single playthrough.

When do I back up my saves?

The good news is that in Sekiro important decisions related to the choice of game's ending are made only in the final phase of the main plot. Do not be afraid of repeating large stages of the game.

The first save game copy has to be created right before meeting with the Great Shinobi-Owl, which takes place on the roof of Ashina Castle - Important information about Sekiro Shadows Die Twice endings - Game Endings - Sekiro Guide and Walkthrough

The first save game copy has to be created right before meeting with the Great Shinobi-Owl, which takes place on the roof of Ashina Castle. In the course of this conversation the main character has to select one dialogue option. Selecting the first behavior option unlocks the Shura ending, but blocks access to the other three endings. After viewing the Shura ending you can load your earlier saved game and select the second dialogue option, which allows you to continue the efforts to unlock the other three endings.

A second copy of saves should be created right before the battle with the Divine Dragon in the Fountainhead Palace. The duel with this boss can be specifically unlocked shortly after reaching the sculptor idol Palace Grounds. Before you defeat the Divine Dragon follow the steps required to unlock the Purification and Return endings. Here we are talking specifically about the acquisition of quest items Aromatic Flower and Frozen Tears (details on how to get this items are on separate pages with descriptions of these endings). You may not immediately view the aforementioned endings, but by gathering both items, they will be available in a grand finale.

The third save copy you have to create immediately after the victory over the final boss Isshin, the Sword Saint in the Ashina Castle. Make a save copy before you meet with Kuro. During the meeting with Kuro you make a choice one of of three endings - Immortal Severance, Purification or a Return. It is worth noting that the completion of the purification and return will be available only if you purchased the necessary quest items before you deal with the Divine Dragon boss in the Fountainhead Palace.?
