Dragonslayer Armour Dark Souls III Guide

Last update: 01 June 2016

This boss is an opponent that uses mostly physical attacks. A lightning protection will be useful as well since the Armour uses this effect to strengthen its weapons. In addition to that, in the second phase of the battle you must watch out for projectiles dropping on the arena. They aren't shot by the boss, but by his "mentor" who is flying nearby on the bridge. Because of that, you must divide your attention between avoiding the attacks of the Armour and, if possible, looking around and avoiding the projectiles. A weapon that causes cold effect will be effective - the Armour is most vulnerable to that.

The Armour fights during the whole battle with an axe and a shield. It is worth adding that the shield can be more deadly than opponent's main weapon. Axe attacks are rather standard - the main attack is a combo consisting of two sings and a hit from above the head that can crush you into the ground. The Armour uses its shield very frequently, usually to reduce the distance by pushing the shield at the player and breaking his defense (an attack is performed after that). Opponent's hits can be moderately blocked, but a very good shield is needed for that. It is better to focus on dodges and looking for an opportunity to perform a combo when you can jump towards the boss and hit its back.

The most dangerous attacks are the ones performed from a jump. They can easily knock you down and leave vulnerable for further hits. Because of that, whenever you see the opponent jumping, quickly dodge, preferably to the side since the boss has long reach. In addition to that, during the both phases of the battle you must watch out when the Armour rises its axe up - soon after it will drop it accompanied by series of lightning. In that case you must hide behind the boss in order to avoid damage and have an opportunity to deal some hits. If you manage to stun the boss with few stronger attacks he should kneel and become vulnerable for more attacks. But don't let it fool you and don't walk towards him frontally - before rising, the Armour hits with its axe from above the head.

During the second phase of the battle projectiles will start dropping on the arena. Keep your attention still focused on the armor since if you remain mobile enough (don't stand in one place for too long) you should easily avoid these missiles. The Armour will start using abilities of its weapon. Be cautious when it will put the shield on its back. It will mean that the boss is preparing a quick charge or powerful swing. Get out of its way.

During the battle try performing dodge, leave blocking for critical situations. Don't stand for too long in one place and watch out more for the shield than the axe of the Armour. Avoid the special attacks that are directed precisely in front of the boss. Use it to attack the opponent from the side or from the back. If you can, try fighting with weapon or spells that deal cold damage, the boss is vulnerable to it. Equip a good armor that provides protection from physical attacks and lightning.

Don't forget about the backup you can call in case of trouble with defeating the boss. Eygon's summoning sign can be found in the small, dark building on the right side of the stairs. Sirris sign (if you followed her quest) is located before the stairs leading to the arena.

Reward: Soul of Dragonslayer Armor, 48 000 souls

Location: Lothric Castle
