Ludleth can craft special weapons for you, harvested from souls of defeated bosses.

Transposition is about using special souls (mainly those of bosses) and exchanging them for valuable items. You can also consume souls of bosses, for which you receive a soul, but using them in this way is the least profitable.

To transpose a soul, go to Ludleth sitting on the throne in Firelink Shrine and start the transposition process. Sometimes you will require souls for that to pay for the transposition. Also, note the fact that the majority of souls can be used to craft two items - while playing the game for the first time, you have to choose which you will profit from the most. Obtaining all of the souls requires you to complete the game again.

Transposition becomes available after you defeat Curse-rotted Greatwood in Undead Settlement. You will then receive Transposition Kiln that you have to return to Ludleth. From now on, you can freely transpose souls, even after Ludleth burns up (towards the end of the game, after you place Cinders of 4 Lords on their thrones).
