Profaned Capital - Return to the Irithyll Dungeon Dark Souls III Guide

Last update: 01 June 2016

The exit leading to the Profaned Capital is in the lower part of the dungeon, in the room full of life-syphoning guards. Once you leave it, go down the stairs, collecting a Large Soul of a Weary Warrior on the way.

A bit further go across the bridge. During the crossing, a stone gargoyle will arrive from the rocks on the right. Withdraw to a more stable and open terrain, where you will have an easier time dodging its attacks. Watch out when the gargoyle rises in the air, because it will fall down, trying to pierce you with its weapon. During the encounter, try to stay close to the enemy, and roll under its wing when it lays itself open (at the same time, watch out, because it will deal two more hits).

After defeating the enemy, you can cross the bridge. Go down using one of the ladders, and ascend on the other one to be near the bonfire. You will find a body with Stretch Out and Undead Bone Shard. You will also find a ladder here, which leads further into the level. Before you use it, it's worth it to finish the affairs in Irithyll Dungeons.

Use the ladder to get to the bottom of the tower and turn left. You will encounter another gargoyle - use the same method as before (wait for the creature to lower its guard). When you deal with the beast, you can return to the tower by using the ladder on your left. Enter through the window and collect two Rusted Coins.

Don't run after the lizard - you will fall into a pit, right into a trap.

Take the stairs on your right. Don't get fooled by the lizard and instead of chasing it, turn left. In the next corridor you will encounter another lizard (Twinkling Titanite) and a right turn that will lead you to the first approached lizard (another Twinkling Titanite). Get to the end and turn left to find a body with Rusted Golden Coin. Exit the corridor and head towards a wooden platform on the other side.

You will get to the location presented in the screenshot (get to the end of the bridge to obtain Blooming Purple Moss Clump). The path will lead you deeper where you will be exposed to toxic gas. Furthermore, beware of spiders that will get up as soon as you get close enough. You can find a Purging Stone and if you turn towards the wooden bridge, a Cursebite Ring and a Poison Gem.

Head to the left part of the location to find Shriving Stone in front of the main door. As soon as you open it, an opponent which looks like a huge dog will come after you. Instead of a head, the creature has a large fist, which you have to be cautious about (you can be caught and squeezed). Furthermore, the beast will roll over when you get behind it. Luckily, your opponent is rather slow, and thus you will be able to avoid most of its attacks (head towards the toxic area to have more space). When you kill the beast, walk inside and deal with two more similar creatures. You can approach them separately, or if you received Eleonora (dropped by one of the hounds) don't do it and sprint to the back of the room and collect 3 Purging Stones.

The ladder that will take you to the top can be found on the right side of the building. - Profaned Capital - Return to the Irithyll Dungeon - Walkthrough - Dark Souls III Game Guide & Walkthrough

Get back to the toxic area and head to the right part of the location. Use the ladder and get inside. One more hound-like creature will be waiting for you, so dodge his blows and watch out for the enormous hand. Kill the beast and pick up Court Sorcerer Set, and Junk by the window. The chest is a shapeshifter so be careful - slay it and you will receive Logan's Catalyst.

Dont get ambushed by your enemy. - Profaned Capital - Return to the Irithyll Dungeon - Walkthrough - Dark Souls III Game Guide & Walkthrough
Don't get ambushed by your enemy.

Get to the roof and turn right where you will find stairs leading to the top. On your way, draw attention to a larger roof situated on your right. You will encounter an enemy that is going to attack even if you go further. Use the terrain to your advantage and approach the creature from behind. During the duel, watch out for swing and superior range of his weapon. When you kill the creature, you will obtain Logan's Scroll, and if you check the nearby roof, 18 Poison Arrows. Finally, jump into a small tower and collect Wrath of the Gods.

Use the stairs to get to the top and you will reach the place visible in the screenshot - Profaned Capital - Return to the Irithyll Dungeon - Walkthrough - Dark Souls III Game Guide & Walkthrough

Use the stairs to get to the top and you will reach the place visible in the screenshot. There are two invisible opponents by the window (guards who will drain your life energy). Don't let them ambush you and perform a powerful blow to attack the area in front of you instead. Get to the end where you will find Jailbreaker's Key - it will unlock cells that were out of your reach (three of them). On the other hand, Siegward's cell can be opened by Old Cell Key found in Irithyll Dungeon (sewers).

To unlock the shortcut to Irithyll Dungeon bonfire, jump down avoiding rats and the giant. Quickly reach the corridor in front of you and use the elevator to get to the top and unlock the major shortcut.

Run between the legs but watch out for incoming rats.

When you get the required keys and unlock the passage, return to the giant. Kill all the nearby rats and attack the giant, paying attention to rats that will continue to come out of their holes (if you have problems with fighting both rats and the giant at the same time, you will need to show a lot of patience and just kill all of the incoming rodents). During the fight, remain between his legs and attack ankles just like you did before in Cathedral of the Deep. Defeat the giant and collect Profaned Coal and 2x Large Titanite Shard.

Remember: if you followed Siegward's quest, you can look through one of the windows and locate the imprisoned onion knight. If you have Old Cell Key, obtained in Irithyll Dungeon, you will be able to set him free.

Go up the stairs, slay the shapeshifter, use the ladder and jump over to the other side - you will collect the last remaining items. - Profaned Capital - Return to the Irithyll Dungeon - Walkthrough - Dark Souls III Game Guide & Walkthrough
Go up the stairs, slay the shapeshifter, use the ladder and jump over to the other side - you will collect the last remaining items.

To collect the remaining items from Profaned Capital, go a little further, on the left, where the giant used to stand. Another shapeshifter will be waiting for you inside. Slay the creature and collect Lightning arrow.

The ladder will take you to the awning - speed up to make the jump and collect Lightning Bolts. If you have not done it before (you didn't attack the giant to unlock the path), jump down to kill the lizard and collect the lying soul.

Now all you have to do is free Siegward (if you continued his quest) and open prison cells.

Freeing Siegward

To open Siegward's cell, you will need a key. You can find it in the sewers in Irithyll Dungeon, on a path full of rats. At the end you will come across two chests - one of them is a shapeshifter and the other one contains an Old Cell Key.

Talk to Siegward and he will offer Titanite Slab. In the corner, there is Covetous Gold Serpent Ring.

Opening cells and freeing Karla

Before you move deeper into Profaned Capital, use the obtained key and open other cells. The first one is opposite the bonfire, it is the last cell on the right side. Inside, there is Golden Rusted Coin.

Locked cell #2.

The second cell can be located in the same part of the prison, in its lower part. It can be opened from both sides, and you will also find several cages, and a guardian that can drain your life energy. This cell contains Prisoner Chief's Ashes.

Locked cell #3, Karla is inside.

The last cell can be found in the lowest chamber, full of enemies able to drain your HP. You don't want to fight them all at once, so access this place via bridge in Profaned Capital. Turn towards the corridor on your left, avoiding the main group of enemies. On your way, kill one of the guards and open the cell at the end. Karla the Witch is inside - forgive her and she will travel to Cleansing Chapel. When she does that, she will be able to teach you about dark magic, taking tomes that were not given to Cornyx, or Irina.

Remember: this way you explored a part of Profaned Capital, and location in Irithyll Dungeon that was unavailable before. The path will take you to a ladder that can be used to access a bonfire in a tower (Profaned Capital). You should head there.
